Team Viking Rows Completes 49th Marine Corps Marathon

Team Viking Rows Runs A Marathon

On 10/27/2024 Team Viking Rows completed the 49th Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington, Virginia, USA.

We started planning for this Marathon in the first quarter of the year. We solidified a team of 4 individuals to represent the Viking Rows platform in this year’s Marine Corps Marathon. However, only two individuals made it to the starting line this year: Matthew and Cindy Caple. I think this exemplifies how tough it can be just to make it to the starting line of a big race, like the Marine Corps Marathon.

Congratulations to all who showed up and did the work to get it done!

While I had hoped to participate in this marathon with my team this year, I had an old knee injury raise its ugly head, which prevented me from making it to the starting line. In fact, my days of prolonged impact endurance sports may be now behind me (shutter to think).

But there’s always rowing…

Matthew and Cindy exhibited passion, some joy, and lots of discipline while enduring adversity, pain and grueling discomfort - both in their training regimen and on race day - in order to make it to the starting line and to complete the arduous 26.2 mile course of the Marine Corps Marathon.

I, personally, could not be prouder of these two (even though I am admittedly very biased).

Here’s a fun video of today from areas around our great Nation’s Capitol:
