** UPDATE: Viking Rows PaddleBoard Event Postponed
As mentioned in yesterday’s news post, we were planning a long PaddleBoard today to participate in the Molokai2Oahu Virtual Event this weekend. However, the weather is not optimal for today’s attempt.
In looking at the weather for this weekend, we knew we had but a small chance of getting on the water this Saturday morning (Sunday looks too angry, weather-wise). The possible weather window is from about 7am to 1pm EDT today given the chance of thunderstorms later in the day. However, the wind out of the south at 5-10 knots against a south-bound, outgoing tide is the big reason we need to postpone the paddle this morning.
After taking a look at the water on the way to the start this morning, it was evident that the head-wind would be a real problem to paddle against for the whole 16 mile intended route today, and the tide had not even started to turn yet.
So with that, we will look for fairer winds and weather in another weekend in August and let you know when we’ll make another go at it.
And this is why we have ergs…
